God given talent
And uncanny natural instincts
Photo caption: Virginia's Marquis Weeks caps off his 100-yard kickoff return for the touchdown. "That was just instinct. Kind of like running from the cops," said the senior tailback.Of course, such comments beg the most obvious of questions:
Marquis, why ain't chu playing at The U????
Samardzija, Jeff (WR/SP/RP)
Beware the Irish Curse!
"What curse?" you might ask. Ask a Mets fan. Ask an Astros fan.Currently a wide receiver and starting pitcher for the Notre Dame football and baseball teams, Jeff Samardzija as a freshman began his Irish baseball career in the bullpen but rapidly moved into the starting rotation.
He would be wise to maintain that positional choice, should baseball become his post-graduate sport of preference. Quite simply, recent ND graduates in the reliever ranks of MLB have not exactly enjoyed the luck of the Irish.
In fact, if it weren't for bad luck, they may not have any luck at all. While both Aaron Heilman and Brad Lidge have enjoyed respectable careers to date, their exploits in the postseasons of 2005 and 2006 have been less than stellar, with some rather ignominious late-inning non-heroics...

When graduation comes, you must choose wisely, young Jedi.

CMU Homecoming
C.M.Who?
When was the last time you roadtripped to go to your own homecoming football game? If you're a Carnegie Mellon football fan, it was October 14, 2006.
That's right. The mighty Tartans (9-0) traveled to Cleveland, OH, to face Case Western Reserve University. On homecoming weekend. At CMU.
Yes, the concept verily defies logic. Not since the 1989 Carroll Hall presedential election--when VP candidate Toc Dan "Vince" Ton ran on a platform of "tailgaters for the home games...and tailgaters for the away games"--has such logic been defied.
CMU Homecoming Weekend: Gesling Stadium on Oct. 14th., 2006 hosted a spirited flag football game.

Meanwhile, the quad was the scene for cricket and lively Bollywood tunes.

Who needs Divali when you've got homecoming at CMU?
